Amistad Digital Resource
A number of state legislatures across the country have recently passed educational mandates requiring the integration of African-American history into the social studies curriculum in K-12 public schools, to provide a more inclusive and accurate record of American history. The Amistad Digital Resource provides a much-needed solution to help teachers fulfill this new curricular requirement.
Working from an exhaustive collection of video files, audio files, photographs and essays, Russ built the phase I version of this exciting online initiative that brings African-American history to life. Sasha Mysakova of Columbia University’s Digital Knowledge Ventures (DKV) get the design credit and Nathanial Herz (also of DKV) gets the project management nod.
